Acer r. x freemanii ‘Autumn Blaze’ is one of the most-stark and intensely red fall colored freemanii maples in the landscape. Cold and heat tolerant and very strong growing habits in moderate climates equate to Blaze being a money making tree.
In the arsenal of red maple cultivars, Acer r. x freemanii ‘Armstrong’ is a workhorse. Durable in colder climates than most rubrum, columnar growth habit and respectable orange gold fall color make it a consistent performer in the landscape.
Acer platanoides is most commonly used as a budding understock for cultivars. Our seedlings have durable, straight roots and, whenever possible, are harvested under optimum conditions to maximize root fiber.
In order to get the deepest blood red Acer palmatum ‘atropurpureum’, we collect seed from our own “Bloodgood” seed orchard. These bloodgood seedlings are the highest quality red seedling you will find on the market. This is a great plant for garden centers that want to have a quick turn product in a 1 or 2 gallon.
JLPN grows Acer palmatum, and all other container under stock to specifically cater to the grafters needs. The heavy caliper plants and large container size eliminate the need to transplant before grafting. This saves time, money and eliminates steps while producing a better product; the name of the game.
Acer griseum is one of the finest of all peeling trees and makes outstanding specimens when grown in clump-form. Attractive green-gold blooms in the spring, emerald-blue summer foliage and vibrant orange-red fall color make this an attractive plant year around. Our seedlings are straight as an arrow with an unmatched root system. Height 25+ broad spreading.
Acer campestre is native to Europe and commonly used to form a hedge due to its dense branching habit, though in the states it’s generally used as a small landscape tree that’s adaptable to high pH or acid soils with consistent gold fall color.
Native to Japan, Acer buergerianum is widely known for its use in bonsai due to the leaves keeping good reductive form. Mature specimens add very attractive shape and color to landscapes with its orange tinged exfoliating scaled bark and vibrant yellow, orange and red fall color.
