The great tree planting project continues at my Bedford, New York farm.
Everyone has been busy potting and planting the thousands of container seedlings and bare root cuttings that arrived last week. It is important to get these young trees into rich nutrient-filled soil as soon as possible, so they can start to acclimate to the new environment.
Among the trees we received from JLPN, a wonderful family owned tree seedling company in Salem, Oregon, was a group of Styrax japonicus Marley’s Pink® Parasol Japanese Snowbells – discovered by JLPN’s owner, John Lewis. With its profuse blooming character, lustrous pink flowers and sweet, cotton candy fragrance, I decided the trees would make a wonderful allee on the carriage road leading to my tennis court. Here are some photos of our planting process. Enjoy.
